FAQ's
What is the difference between a Practicing license and Registration
Your Registration is your class of license (Inspector, Electrician, EST, EAS, Similar), Once you have this you hold it forever. Your registration is what allows you to undertake Prescribed electrical work (PEW).
If my Practicing license lapse what happens?
You can not certify PEW if your Practicing licenses if not valid. To renew you need to complete a Competency (Refresher) course and submit a application to renew to the Electrical workers registration board (EWRB) which takes up to 20 working days to process
Will I loose my Registration if I do not renew my Practicing license?
No, you can leave it lapsed as long as you want and all you need to do is complete a Competency course and submit a renewal application. (Remember you can not certify PEW without a current practicing license)
Can I do work on my own home or not for reward without a Practicing license?
Work for no reward was removed from the Electricity safety Regulations a long long time ago, and as an Electrical worker you are exempt under ECP51 (Homeowners work). So the short answer is NO!
